Admission Statements, LLC ABOUT US

There are formulas for how to write a personal statement--your advisement center probably supplied you with one (or two). Ask yourself this: if you use a formula in writing your personal statement, what is the best result you can hope for? A technically perfect, formulaic piece. Not only that, but your essay will depend on a variant of the same formula most other applicants relied on for their essays. That is not the way to make a statement. A formula, any formula, will dominate your piece; it will dictate what you say and how you say it. It will produce a banal piece just as surely as a tight rhyme scheme will yield a bad poem in the hands of a first-time writer. Abandon all formulas, ye who enter here.
